George Stinney Mural
It all started when…
I saw this perfect blank wall on an old building at 4000 S. Cottage Grove in Chicago. It was the perfect spot for a mural of George Julius Stinney.
George Stinney Jr., was an African American boy who at the age of 14 was convicted, in a proceeding later vacated as an unfair trial in 2014, of murdering two young girls, Betty June Binnicker, age 11, and Mary Emma Thames, age 7 and who was posthumously found to be innocent.
